Yes, on small to medium days it's one of the friendliest Bukit reef breaks. The wave breaks over a sand-and-reef bottom, the takeoff is mellower than Bingin or Uluwatu, and the wide channel makes recovery paddles easy.
→What's Balangan like at low tide?
Shallow and sectiony — the inside reef gets exposed and the wave loses its shape. Best to surf Balangan on the push from low to mid, before the wave gets too soft on the high.
→Where can I rent boards at Balangan?
Multiple warungs on the beach rent boards for 50-100k IDR a half-day. Quality varies — inspect deck for water damage and ask for fin keys before you walk down to the water.
