Green Bowl — Frequently asked
→Why is Green Bowl called a hidden gem?
It sits at the southern tip of the Bukit and requires a 100-step staircase descent through dense palms. The crowd thins because of the access and parking. On a clean SW swell with a low-mid tide, you can get long lefts with maybe 10-15 surfers.
→Is the Green Bowl staircase really that long?
Yes — about 100 steep concrete steps down, then back up at the end of your session. Bring water, leave heavy fins/leashes if you can. The hike alone keeps the crowd half of what you'd see at Bingin.
→What's the best swell direction for Green Bowl?
S to SW. On a clean S swell with offshore winds (early morning), you get long left walls breaking down a coral shelf. The spot doesn't work on N-W swells.
