Padang Padang — Frequently asked
→Is Padang Padang for beginners?
Absolutely not. Padang Padang Left is a heavy, hollow reef break that only fires above 6 ft and sits in shallow water. It's the Pipeline of Bali. Beginners should ride the small inside wave called Padang Padang Right or skip the spot entirely.
→What size swell does Padang Padang need?
6 ft+ SW with a 14-second period or longer. On smaller days it's flat or closing out. The spot really comes alive at 8-10 ft for the Rip Curl Cup.
→How crowded is the Padang lineup?
Brutally crowded when it's on, especially during dry-season swells (May-September). 80+ surfers in the line-up is normal, dominated by locals and pros. Don't paddle out without solid wave-priority etiquette.
